Welcome to Mainzer Sprachbrücke!

We are a dedicated team of 30 members from various backgrounds - students, professionals, retirees, and more. What unites us is the passion to overcome language barriers and help people communicate across cultural boundaries. From language support in schools to online language courses, German courses at the university, individual actions like backpack and Christmas gift campaigns, interpreting, and language courses for refugee women, as well as a language café for refugees - our individually designed projects sustainably promote language acquisition.

Our Story: How It All Began

March 2022 - A New Chapter Begins The events unfolded when, in mid-March, the first refugees from Ukraine arrived in Mainz. We felt called to action and initiated a campaign on Instagram on March 18, 2022, which, thanks to the support of Mr. Ebling, elicited an impressive response. Numerous volunteers and those seeking help signed up, motivated by the desire to assist.

From Call to Action By the end of March, we put our ideas into action and started building the "Mainzer Sprachbrücke" (Mainz Language Bridge). Our team grew - and with it, our drive to facilitate communication across language barriers and forge cultural connections.

April 2022 - A Name That Connects Our project was named: "Mainzer Sprachbrücke". It reflects our vision: to connect languages, understand cultures, and strengthen community.

Growth and Commitment Since then, we have been steadily growing and have established ourselves as an organization dedicated to sustainable language promotion and cultivating a positive coexistence.
